Mid-novel messes, dealing with

Okay, I may work well in less-than-tidy circumstances..but stuff on my desk is getting out of hand now. I have piles od stuff to file, piles of stuff to toss when I get around to it, and a few things I KNOW I've lost and that have to be somewhere underneath all this mess. It happens that way when I've been just adding to the piles already there because I was busy doing something else and didn't feel like stopping that for long enough to straighten the place up.

AAAARGH.

Tidy up time. At least a cosmetic one, making more coherent piles.

'scuse me while I scurry off and do that.

Hmm, consider the scenario - with my house in the worst mess it's ever been in so far - piles of stuff, exactly as you describe in all rooms, I am burgled. I immediately get new doors and windows installed which means putting all piles into larger piles in the centre of all rooms so that I can provide access to windows and doors for fitters. Then I get sick, go to Eastercon, get sick again. Piles continue to increase. I think there are three cheques buried somewhere in the piles, let alone other stuff.

Nothing to see here folks, move along, there are no piles of stuff ... :-)

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I get a smaller and smaller space to work in until it gets to the point where I feel I can't breathe, and then I take time out to sort it all out.

Sadly, I KNOW there are no cheques hidden in there *gloom* but occasionally something interesting reappears for me to deal with.
