Quote of the day, from [livejournal.com profile] fiction_theory:

"Because the more I read, the more I find out, the more I feel like getting published is like shooting an arrow in New York and hitting a bullseye in China. Blindfolded. Behind your back. With somebody constantly moving the bullseye. On a windy day."

A writer's eternal frustration, expressed in a wonderful way.

Blanfold me, spin me, hand me another arrow.

Because you know, this time I might hit the darn bullseye.

...and then having to wait a year or two until someone tells you whether or not your arrow actually hit anything, and you can't shoot again until then.

It's a fair analogy, but your chances of hitting the target are much higher if you shoot good quality arrows.

(And I used to be an archery nut.)
