I love the looks on customers' faces and the excitement in their written or spoken voices when I tell them that chances are good that their favorite author has a blog.
"the casual, faux-confidential tone of a good blog"????
Yikes. Y'know, I'm perfectly happy to read a blog where the author talks only about writing, or only about some parts of her life and not others, I don't expect my friends-in-the-flesh to spil their guts on every subject, either. Everyone's entitled to decide what level of privacy they want to maintain.
On the other hand, if someone's going to have a blog at all, I do want to either know their real thoughts, on whatever level they choose to share, or be told if a fictional character is being created.
