Sounds like a failure, doesn't it? [grin]

But no - according to THIS article,, they've got Teraflop computing power now.

On a chip the size of a fingernail.

Money quote:

The first time teraflop performance was achieved was 11 years on the ASCI Red Supercomputer built by Intel for the Sandia National Laboratory.

That machine took up more than 2,000 square feet, was powered by almost 10,000 Pentium Pro processors, and consumed more than 500 kilowatts of electricity.

Welcome to the next revolution.

I'm used to toner, you know, gradually DYING on me. Things getting fainter and fainter and then you finally cave and change the cartridge and all goes on smoothly like that.

This afternoon my printer, in the midst of a print job stopped. Stopped DEAD. And presented me with the message "TONER LIFE END".

And would not move again, holding the rest of my printout hostage, until I had replaced the toner cartridge.

It's a fine thing when your hardware holds you to ransom.
