just popped in for a snack of suet. It's a Western Tanager, according to my little Bird Book, and we haven't seen his ilk round here before. He's quite spectacular!
I had a flicker in my backyard this morning. They're relatively common, so it's not a big deal, but they're so beautiful and so perky that I'm charmed every time I see one.
