One of these fellows




just popped in for a snack of suet. It's a Western Tanager, according to my little Bird Book, and we haven't seen his ilk round here before. He's quite spectacular!

How beautiful! I watch birds quite a bit out back in our tiny piece of paradise a few hours south of you but haven't seen one of these.

We did just get a small flock of male Evening Grosbeaks that have stayed since the weekend. I'm elated. Haven't seen any of those in four years.
